Southern Classic Bike Show - 24th May 2014

Despite the inclement weather the Southern Classic Bike Show at Kempton Park was a huge success. A lot of hard work was put in by the clubs some of their stands were amazingly decorated and littered with great bikes and there were again, a very high standard of cafe racers and private bike entries.

The Autojumble was full of interesting bikes for sale and there were many happy buyers leaving with their arms full. Trials rider Johnny Giles was there with his gold medal winning bike and was enjoying himself at the event.

There were also 28 Motorcycle Club Stands display a selection of their members Motorcycles and a good turn out of Cafe Racers which formed part of Ace Cafe London's "Cafe Racer Corner".

EGP's Eric Patterson had his Viscount that he will be taking to Bonneville in August this year on show. Another crowd puller was a Norton Featherbed Special 1700 V8 (highly commended) which attracted a lot of interest. With such a superb turn out of bikes judging was not easy.

World Champion rider Phil Read was in attendance and presented the prize for Best Cafe Racer along side Mike and Dave.

Southern Classic Bike Show Winners 2014

A variation of great bikes caught the eye at this years show. 'Best in Show' winner was a well polished 1979 Honda CBX. The now much cherished bike took around a year and a half to build, a long 26 years after being bought in 1981!

Closely following was the 1991 Yamaha VMax, bought off Ebay two and a half years ago for £1500. Over the last two years the owner has stripped it and rebuilt replacing 90% of nuts and bolts and replating others. In third place was an amazing looking 1963 BSA Rocket Gold Star; rebuilt in 1996, the same year it featured on the front page of Classic Bike Guide Magazine.

Best Cafe Racer was awarded to a 1970 Triton 750cc, bought to complete but not up to the owners standard, he rebuilt it completely and uses this fabulous bike on a regular basis.

About the Southern Classic Bike Show at Kempton

The Southern Classic Bike Show has been running for almost 26 years now and has been well attended by at least 26 Clubs Stands and 30 private entries every year. There are bikes from every era from 1915 - 1990 on show. All the motorcycle owners and clubs put in a huge effort into their bikes displays which is very much appreciated.

The show is a great advertisement for the clubs and a chance for private owners to show off their classic machines. Prizes are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Club Stands and Best in Show. Every entrant receives a commemorative mug or medal.

Running alongside the show is our large AutoJumble which is regularly attended by 250+ stalls selling motorcycle related items including complete motorcycles, spares, parts, magazines, clothing and memorabilia. We also have a Bike Mart which is always very popular. Bring your Bike along from 9am to sell on the day. The Gates open to the general public at 9:30am.

To keep up-to-date with all the Southern Classic Bike Show's and Jumbles click here for calendar of events.

Kempton has plenty of parking, toilets and refreshment facilities. It is easy to find from the M25 and has its own railway station. It is conveniently located for London and the Home Counties although visitors and customers often travel much further from other parts of Europe.

Why not enter a bike or rent a stall for your clearouts? We have a booking form with prices, terms and conditions.
